I picked up Acacia: The War with the Mein, by David Anthony Durham about two years ago, read a couple chapters then put in down. Ever since I've been wondering what happened. So I finally went to the library this week to check it out.
For all the fantasy fanatics this is a definite must read.

Today was horrible. For all who don't know I was downsized a few months back. Recently I've begun seriously looking for a new job and today I had a horrible interview. Three hours of extreme torture, they actually tested my basic math skills?? I mean come on, I went to an accredited university, doesn't a copy of my transcripts suffice? I can add and subtract...honest. I really didn't grasp the concept of the test, they provided me with a calculator. So was the test to see if I knew how to use a calculator...tricky technology there!!
At the end I didn't even care if I got the job, I just wanted OUT! Guess it was good practice.
Finally at home and am going to veg out in front of TV, Heroes and Terminator tonight YEA!

I really wanted an icon with the Lord of Darkness (from Legend), but I couldn't find one anywhere. So... I decided to try to make one myself.
I don't have Photoshop, so I downloaded Serif Photoplus (free) and I CAN'T figure it out. Four hours and a kabillion attempts later I have given up!! Below is the best I could do, does anyone know of a tutorial or something on how to make icons?( See my sorry attempt )

So there's this movie I've really been wanting to see. Towelhead - based on a novel by Alicia Erian - directed by Alan Ball (6 Feet Under/American Beauty). It came out last Friday and to this day it is only playing at a theater that is about 1 hour from my house. The only thing I can figure is that the movies key themes - sexual abuse & adolescent sexuality, aren't too welcome here in the Bible Belt.
I've run across this problem before, last month I wanted to rent a movie, Teeth - a dark comedy exploring the Vagina Dentata Myth (yes, you read right, and you should go check it out). So I went to 3 of my nearby Blockbusters and they all said the same thing "This is a family store, those types of movies aren't welcome here"
Uh...OK. So I had to rent it on Blockbuster online, which was annoying, cuz I'm all about the instant gratification of it all.
Has anyone else been made to feel like a perv at their local video store?
My question is, has anyone seen the movie? Is it worth a 2 hour round trip? Or should I add it to my BB.Com Queue?
Oh yeah, and the Dog Whisperer is on Bones tonight! Who woulda thought.
